DC motors are powered by direct current and, in most cases, do not require motor control. Proven technology, but has brushes that wear out and require maintenance.
AC induction motors (asynchronous motors) are robust and reliable AC motors without permanent magnets. They are cost-effective and are often used in standard applications such as pumps and fans.
PMAC motors (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Brushless) use permanent magnets and are brushless. They are highly energy efficient, compact and offer high precision, but require advanced control and have a higher purchase cost.
Brief summary:
DC motors: proven, more maintenance
AC motors: robust, cost-effective
PMAC motors: high efficiency and precision
